Introduction

Round 2 of the campaign was a huge success for the Empire over round 3, bringing the scores to 4-4; and we’ve been able to successfully take a base that we needed. My prize from the second round was 10 points ofordnance, and so with the enemies squadrons proving troublesome I went for flechette torpedoes as an means of disrupting them to try and keep my squadrons on the table. So now my list is looking like this:

Arquitens Light Cruiser (52) (Flagship)
• XX-9 Turbolasers (2)
= 54 Points

Raider I (44)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Flechette Torpedoes (3)
= 48 Points

Gladiator I (56)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Assault Proton Torpedoes (4)
= 60 Points

Squadrons:
• Gar Saxon (20)
• Mandalorian Gauntlet Fighter (18)
• Aggressor Assault Fighter (15)
= 38 Points

Total Points: 222

With the scores so close for both teams, we’re hurtling towards a pivotal battle after this no matter what - the only question is who will get to declare? Each team has formed opinions about match-ups, though in the evolution of lists, objectives and the allocation of resources things can shift quickly. And so the Admirals have organised games and this is where we’re at.

At this point I’ll hand over to the Commander…

In the game of chess, you can never let your adversary see your pieces

Zapp Brannigan! Random off-franchise ships appear unexpectedly, but even so I'm anticipating an all-out tactical dogfight followed by a light dinner.

Ravioli, ham, sundae bar… Kif are you getting any of this?

Once again the enemy is running more potatoes and their squadrons far outnumber us. So the plan of throwing wave after wave of men isn’t going to work. No this is going to take far more cunning, planning and torpedoes.

What’s that Kif? The VIP? Well who is it? I bet those cunning monkeys kidnapped Calculon hoping for intel about the thirteenth colony!

End of round 1.

The setup has the station in front of the two potatoes dominating the centre of the board. Calculon is initially off floating by the station and must be retrieved, so we’re going to go in and get him as soon as is convenient. We don’t have the same kind of firepower, so we need to just get into it.

So the first round is committed to positioning for that whilst they prepare with Nav tokens.

Second round, we’re playing for time. The Arquiten activates first, slowing down to speed 2 and avoid the big guns of the Potatoes. One potato moves into the centre slowly, and the Raider moves into the centre to try and catch the squadrons unprepared at some point if they end up in range.

The other Potato flagship moves and picks up Calculon leaving the Gladiator in range but missing, and so moves in front of the Potatoes. The squadrons pile in on the Gladiator where they can.

Start of Round 3.

Round three is off with a bang as the Gladiator punches a Potato hard enough with Assault Proton Torpedoes to wish it hadn’t left Caprica. The Gladiator manages to escape by jumping over to the station though doesn’t manage to get out of arcs. The Potato activates all squadrons and tries to kill Gar Saxon who manages to survive on 1 health.

The Raider activates with a Squadron command and moves Gar out of there and onto the station to survive whilst also putting some hits into the Potato that parked in front of it before jumping over on to the debris and collecting a few squadrons on the way.

Bone decides to pass his turn and so the Arquiten activates and has the Aggressor put some hits in onto Hera…Starbuck? Apollo? We also follow up on with its own shots into the fighter that gets it down to 3 hull and then ram the Potato out of side arc.

Start of Round 4.

Round four and the Raider goes first, activates the Aggressor to kill Hera and attacks with Flechettes to pin Biggs and the generic. This is the moment we were training for all yesterday afternoon. . Potato number 2 activates the YT-1300 to block the Aggressor from reaching the other fighters and finishing them off.

The Arquiten goes next, managing to activate the Gauntlet and combined with a ram they kill the Flag Potato freeing Calculon from the tyrannical grips of Adama.

Ah the Arquiten, the flaming star of Brannigan’s Rough Rangers…

Start of Round 5.

Round five is a tough choice of who to activate first, so we opt for the Raider to activate the Aggressor again and to lock down the fighters. The Potato shoots at the Gladiator which manages to stay in the fight at long range, and the Arquiten avoids damage except for the ram at low speed.

The Gladiator runs, and the Arquiten picks up Calculon who has been floating in the dark being dramatic.

Round six the fleet disengages and runs, the Aggressor kills the YT-1300 but dies in the process.

Debrief

The Empire takes another win, and this time by a more convincing margin. Zapp Brannigan has definitely earned his keep!

Damn it Kiff where’s the little umbrella? That’s what makes it a scotch on the rocks!

Overall the Empire managed to pull together another 3-1 against the Rebellion, and so we go to a pivotal battle next. Will have that batrep to you as best as can be managed with so many ships and squadrons on the table.

Stay Salty.
