G’day everyone!

The Fife Arms, Braemar

I am acutely aware that it’s been a solid couple of months since I last posted. This has mostly been due to being absolutely flat out with a bunch of life events, including an amazing holiday in Scotland at the end of the year for Xmas and Hogmanay, and eloping to marry my wonderful new wife, Kate! The wedding was incredibly epic, taking place in the absolutely amazing Fife Arms Hotel in Braemar, followed by some stunning photos around the spectacular Cairngorms National Park.

On return from our trip in the new year, we then packed up our lives in Halifax, Canada, and moved back to Australia. We are now in Perth on the West Coast, and we will move into our new place very soon. So it’s all action over here at the moment!

That said, while it’s still January, I’ve got a quick sec to bash out an update for you all about what we’re planning on getting up to with Aluminum Falcon (A-F) in 2026.

Round-up

First, I’ll just go over a bit of a recap of things that I’ve missed over the last couple of months or so.

Armada Ruleset Collective (ARC) community content:

  • ARC-02 Release - “These aren’t the Droids you’re looking for”: Just before Xmas on 15 Dec, ARC dropped a small print and play points adjustment for CIS and GAR items, with arguably the key items being points drops for both Kraken commander and the generic Delta-7 Aethersprite fighters. I’m definitely keen to have a crack at using these soon. More info can be found on Discord and in the Dev Diary post on the ARC website at the link above.

Armada Legacy community content:

  • Legacy Wave 1: First off the bat this year, on New Year’s Day, was the next wave of exciting new content from Armada Legacy. This huge release comes after a year of development, substantial playtesting, and a shed-ton of work from the whole community. It does a decent job of fleshing out the GAR and CIS nicely, adding 2 new commanders, 4 new ship cards, and 12 new titles, all with beautiful, newly commissioned art (and 3D models!).

  • Legacy Wave 0 Hotfix: This came out soon after Wave 1, based on a need to clear up some NPE related to the unique DGS-047 and R2-D2 squadrons.

Armada general content:

  • Barry’s ARC & Legacy Review: Of course, I must mention that a couple of weeks ago, Barry delivered a brief, positive assessment of the combined changes from both communities. If you missed it, please have a read. I’m sure I’ll have more to add, and we’ll likely provide an update later on after we get some more games in. I’ll drop a link to the post below.

  • Star Wars: Armada World Championship at AdeptiCon 2026 - Community Edition: This will be the first year since the community has taken the reins for Armada from AMG, with ARC and Armada Community sharing the burden. It is already shaping up to be a fairly decent size. At the time of writing, and despite current world events affecting travel to the US from abroad, 96 spots have been secured, with more likely to become available soon. More information can be found on Discord or at the ARC website link above.

AdeptiCon 2026 Website

Side note: After I came back from AdeptiCon in Milwaukee last year, I wrote a bit of a guide post with some hot tips for young (and not-so-young) players wishing to make the journey. I've reposted that below for your reading pleasure, though some parts might need a bit of a refresh.

  • Vassal World Cup (VWC) 2026: The flagship Armada online tourney is back again this year and is currently in full swing. There are lots of fresh and interesting lists in the mix, along with some old-faithfuls with a slight refresh. With travel to Worlds at AdeptiCon being a bit more of an issue this year, the online nature of VWC, using Vassal and TTS, certainly allows for broader representation from around the world. the pod phase coming to a close this week, the second-chance tournament opens soon! More information is available on Armada Hub Discord in the tournaments channel, HERE.

Coming Up in 2026!

Ok, here’s a quick run-down of what Barry and I (plus a couple of other mates) are thinking so far for this year (play BBC’s Top Gear theme over the top):

  • Rosco revisits the Holocron War College to chat about Nelson, Trafalgar and ‘Crossing the T’…

  • A much-needed Part 4 to The Players’ New Republic of Star Wars will look at how far the Armada community has come over the past year or so…

  • Barry has a few more dashes of salt-bae on how ‘not having a plan’ might actually be ‘a plan’, and how it’s working for him…

  • The Disaster Artist returns for another attempt at throwing together and splashing some paint on Shatterpoint minis…

  • The Aussie Armada “Not-Nationals” in Canberra kicks off soon as well, and Barry will be giving us the good oil on how it all goes…

  • Star Trek: Into the Unknown has been making it to our tables lately - now with Klingons on the Starboard bow, with the new Rising Tensions expansion!

  • And finally… Barry and I are going to take a deep, deep dive into Kickstarters, looking at how bloody annoying their imaginary timelines are and why…

Peace, Out ✌

That’s it from me for now, team. Once Kate and I get settled in the new house by the beach, I’ll get stuck into some of this stuff. Maybe our air and sea freight will arrive in a semi-reasonable timeframe. I also hope all our furniture and other stuff that was in Canberra storage for 2 years arrives ok too… wish us luck 😅

Cheers,

Rosco 🥃
